Mandarin Day At ICS

Each year, the kids get to wear their Chinese outfits and have a performance all in Chinese.  The English parents don't get much out of it ... but they are learning a lot.

Beach Break Over Chinese New Year

A beautiful day at the beach on Sentosa.  What you can't see from these pictures ... are the 1 million other people we had to walk around to find a relatively quiet spot.  Nice weather, nice beach, pizza close by ... a very fun evening all around.

Sometimes, the Singaporeans actually have a sense of humor.  Typically, the signs are signs about what you can't do (along with how much you will be fined if you do it).  These signs ... are making fun of themselves.

Funny ... as Asians love to fly kites, but it isn't allowed in most places.

Happy Chinese New Year

This made me laugh, so I thought I would post it.  Happy Chinese New Year ... or Gong Xi Fa Cia.  And for reference it is the year of the Goat / Sheep (same, depending upon who you talk to.  So ... our friends at Ikea have the following advertising in Singapore.

Grandma Maki's 80th Birthday

In late January, Anna and I flew back to Minnesota to help celebrate grandma's 80th birthday.  We didn't tell her we were coming, and the surprise was great.  Through a few tears, she let us come out of the cold and into the house to spend the week with her.

Grandma and Anna ... both very happy to be together!

The surprise ... full of hugs and tears!!!!
