Singapore Squirrel (A Big One)

Okay, so it isn't a squirrel, but we have more of these here than we have squirrels. So, today, Addlea heard a scratching at her window, and then discovered a 2 foot plus monitor lizard looking in at her.  Not sure if that is cool or creepy, but ... after some screaming ... and pictures, he decided to spend the day at our house.

Not sure why he is here, but the excitement has been worth it. Still hiding at our house tonight, so we will keep you all updated.

Legoland Malaysia

Anna wanted to visit Legoland Malaysia for some time ... so after getting some free tickets, Anna and I headed across the border for a fun Saturday.  Legoland is an amusement park based upon ... legos, what else.  It wasn't a very big place, but we had fun riding the rides and getting really HOT.  Yes, it was really HOT.  Here are just a couple pictures from our fun day.

Anna and a friends lego sculpture.

Anna driving a lego car.

Anna's favorite water ride.

Some lego sculptures through out the park.

Anna's favorite ride was a roller coaster in a Castle.  I think we went on this ride at least 5 times.  The ride first started in the castle, got really dark, and then burst into the open.  She smiled the whole time.

Legoland also had an area where it had built minature models of Asian countries.  Here are a couple models of Singapore.

One of my favorite sculptures.

Singapore Science Museum

On Saturday, we went as a family to the Singapore Science Museum.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a fun museum that held all of our attention spans for almost 6 hours.  That did, of course, include lunch, an Imax movie, a snack and water play.  But hey, it was all for science.

Illusions ... oh no, our heads on a fruit plate?????

Emily participating in a sound demonstration.  Patiently listening to the instructions before she swings that piece of rubber around and around.

Playtime after lunch.

Jenna getting ready for the Typhoon booth.

Dad and Jenna in the Typhoon Chamber, where the wind was currently swirling at 33 km/hr.  Actually, wasn't too bad in there.

The girls in the earthquake center.  The room was set-up to imitate certain types of earthquakes.  They thought it was pretty cool.

Just a fun picture.

Mom found her dream guy in the mathematics section of the museum.

Hanging out in a tree house in the Eco Garden.

Misc. Adventures

Hanging out with our friends, The Taylors, at their pool in Singapore.  Francis (5th grade), Logan (3rd grade), Gabriel (1st grade / Emily's class) and little Faith (not quite 2).  And yes, quite a crazy time with them all - as you can see from the crazy picture.

As a surprise, mom took the girls to West Coast Park (and McDonalds) for breakfast before school.  They got to play on the playground for just a couple of minutes.  What a treat!

Anna's choir concert, I Can Only Imagine.  She had a great time.  Here she is with a couple of her friends.

Oh yeah ... something you don't see too many places.  This is a large Monitor Lizard up in the tree.  Yes, he really is that big (at least 4 feet long).

Club Med @ Bintan, Indonesia

We spent Easter weekend enjoying God's creation on Bintan Island, Indonesia.  Bintan is located a short ferry ride from Singapore, so it was quick and easy from a trip perspective.  We had heard mixed reviews about Bintan, so we weren't sure what to expect.  We were very pleasantly surprised, and had a wonderful time, coming back with both souveniers and sunburns.

Thursday evening we left for Bintan on the ferry.  Very convenient - a 45 minute ride from Singapore to Bintan Island.  Mom and Emily enjoying the nice ride.
Some of our beautiful views from the resort.  Palm trees and the beach can easily put you in the mood to relax.

Some of our relaxation time.  No complaints from us!!!

And now, time for the beach and the pool.  Emily was willing to be buried in the sand, and then the water started to splash over her as well - and still a smile!
Jenna enjoying the ocean with her floaties on.  The water was so calm that it was like being in a swimming pool, so they loved it.  Not scary at all!

Anna and dad enjoying a kayak trip into the ocean.  I took each of the girls out, and we had a great time.
We spent many hours of our day at the pool.  But no one complained!

A cameo of Jenna.

And plenty of exciting activities happening during the day.  Here is a picture of Lady Gaga being chased in the pool by the resident shark.  There were lots of people, including Spiderman, Superman, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Luke Skywalker, etc that came to save Lady Gaga ... but couldn't.  Kept the kids entertained.
An outing to a local shopping area for souveniers.

Towel pets left by the resort staff.  Here is a towel monkey holding Emily's monkey.  It made her smile!
Towel puppy dog when we checked in.
Vegatable bouquet in the dining room.
Our family picture ... the crazy one.  We didn't get a good one of us just being normal.
