Somewhere in the middle of Nebraska, we spotted The Great Platte River Road Archway and decided to stop. This structure, which is over I-80, holds a small museum of the changes in travel since the pioneers headed west. We got to experience the thunder of a buffalo stampede (6th picture), wander thru the hardships of life for those in a wagon train, see the building of the rail road, the building of the interstates with the housing from that period, to the modern day interstate ... which can be see out the windows at the end. A nice walk on a beutiful day rounded out many hours in the car.

Wheels 'O Time Museum
Grandmother and Granddaddy (from Knoxville, TN) stop by for a visit. The weather turns cold and rainy, so off we went to the Wheels 'O Time Museum, just a mile or so down the road. We were all surprised by the old gadgets, cars, tractors, clocks, planes, etc. that this little museum had. We all had a great time, with Grandmother and Granddaddy telling us about many things that they remember from years gone by. Granddaddy especially enjoyed the large trains that were on site, very similar to the kind that his dad was an engineer on.
Signs of Spring
Spring is finally here in Peoria, and we are celebrating accordingly. Spring dresses, lots of play time outside, and unfortunately ... allergies too. But ... we will live thru that as well.
This would be the Mother's Day flowers for the beautiful Mom in our lives.

Trash is Fashion?
Oh yes...when a second grade celebrates Earth Day with a "Trash is Fashion" show! The assignment was to to construct an outfit using recyclables and/or things found around the house. Below is a picture of Anna in her "Wonder-Bread" bag sundress (thanks to KY Grandma for the bags), a tulle sash with flower, a floral headband (artificial flowers glued to a headband), and a custom paper plate "purse" with a braided yarn handle. It turned out pretty cute, and Anna was thrilled with the final product. She looked quite fashionable on the "runway" and got lots of cheers from the older students....especially considering most costumes consisted a limbs thrust through plastic bags. :)
