ICS Fun Run

The ICS Fun Run (5K) was held as a fund raiser for the athletics at school.  We decided to participate as a family, thus the very nice matching shirts.  Even though Jenna wasn't feeling very well, off we went for a fun (and very hot) morning at West Coast Park, which is close to school.  Anna spent the 5K with friends.  Emily did a kids run.  Jenna rode in the wagon pulled by mom or dad.  That was our work out.  Addlea was a marshall / guide along the race route.  The day also included a raffle.  While we worked hard to win a couple of baskets ... Emily was the big winner of the day with an Arts and Craft basket.  And yes, it looks like the basket is as big as she is!!!  Always fun to win something.

Easter

A beautiful Easter day here in Singapore!  Kristin and I sang in the church choir this morning.  We did get a visit from the Easter bunny, documented by the footprints he left in the house.  Jenna was adamant that they are not real, as bunnies wouldn't leave movable footprints.

We celebrated with a bunny cake as well with our friends on Good Friday.  Church, then to their house for pizza, pool and games.

Recent events

Its been a while since we discussed our daily life other than our big trips.  So, here is just a small taste of life here in Singapore.

Kristin was invited to the wedding of her hair dresser.  Here is Anna and Kristin at the morning tea.

And, in case you can't read what the balloons say:
* I want to go to England!
* I want to be a teacher.
* I want to be a mom.
* I want to be a salon person.

Kristin and Anna went to the children's home in Batam recently.  Here are some fun pictures of their day.  A great experience for all of them.

Beijing - Random Last Pictures

The last few pictures from our Beijing trip.  We had a great time, even with the haze.  Jenna was safe with her allergies, and we were very thankful for that.  Amazing sites.

Our hotel room.  Great hotel, great staff taking care of us.

The girls received free panda bears from the hotel staff.

Our guide Lucy was wonderful.

Our souvenir stash

One of our local lunches.

Addlea trying to make Anna eat squid.  NOT happening.

Our vehicle for the week.  A great big van.

One evening, we went to a play "The Legend of Kungfu".  Very interesting and very physical.

Beijing - Wangfujing Street & Food Street

During our stay in Beijing, we stayed in a Hilton Hotel just off Wangfujing Avenue close to downtown Beijing.  The Wangfujing area is the most popular commercial district in Beijing.  This area includes high end shopping and eating, as well as many tourists shops.  This creates a really interesting mix of the old and the modern.  The only church (a Catholic church) we saw in Beijing was in this area.

Food Street.  The pictures say enough.  And oh, the smell.  Believe it or not, we didn't try anything.

Believe it or not ... the scorpions are still alive on the stick!!!
