Singapore Snippetts - November 7th

Singapore 101: Home Maintenance. Quite the learning curve here as far as home care is concerned. For example, we have air conditioning units mounted on an inside wall in each room. They sometimes require maintenance: today was chemical...
cleaning for mold, new units for girls, & leak repairs. But, there's just something about using a BLOWTORCH 3 inches from the wall that makes me a little nervous about said repairs......:-)

Singapore 101: I ♥ Hawker Food! So reads the bumper sticker, and we'll have to agree! :-). The hawker stalls, located In clusters in many locations, serve up hot, flavorful regional specialties at low prices (and nothing is cheap in Singapore!). Best washed down with fresh-pressed sugarcane juice with lemon...

Singapore Halloween

Halloween in Singapore has happened. Not too many of the locals celebrate, but since we live on a street (or series of 3 streets) that have a lot of ex-pats (foreigners) - we celebrate Halloween. The girls we so excited. Unfortunately, I (Aaron) was out of town, so I did not get to enjoy the celebration.

Addlea was our candy person.

And, this is our neighbor, but she looks better in real life!

Angry Bird Cable Cars Over Singapore

An adventure with the girls!

Monitor Lizards

Still a holiday, and after a DQ treat, we headed for a nature reserve where we heard there were monitor lizards. Anna did not want to go, but the rest of us were up for an adventure. We were greatly surprised by a wonderful nature reserve, lots of lizards, and even a few other surprises. Yes, they are big, and this first one was about 2 feet of the visitor center boardwalk ... Inside the nature reserve visitor center.

Off for a walk thru the reserve, with some beautiful scenery, a family picture, and a SNAKE. The snake was in the rafters of one of the bird watch pavilions. The funny part was, that we were in the pavilion for a minute or so, with many other people, before Kristin spotted the big buy right above our heads. We should have read the warning sign better.

As we ate a late lunch, we watched the workers do some casual fishing (or transplanting) some fish. This is a dirty job.

And then, we had some fun. The girls needed to get their mind off the wild animals. Anna had too much nature for one day!

DQ

What should we do after a hot hike? I will let you guess!

Hiking At The Dairy Farm Park

Last Friday was a holiday, so as a family, we went for several adventures. First, we headed for the Dairy Farm, or what was once a dairy farm for a hike. It was warm, but the dense jungle like atmosphere was mostly cool. The only "wild" animals here were cows and butterflies.
