Malaysia Adventure

Our church (IBC) held a family camp in Malaysia over a recent public holiday weekend.  It was a fun to get away from Singapore with a number of other families with young children for a fun, and mostly relaxing, time.  Approximately 600 from IBC spent a long weekend at Lotus Desaru, on the south eastern coast of Malaysia.  It was about a 3 hour drive from where we live in Singapore, and that includes the time getting through both Singapore and Malaysian customs at the border.  The drive fairly calm ... and we didn't get lost thanks to our GPS.

The girls loved playing on the beach with a little stream of water flowing across the beach into the ocean.  The enjoying damning it up, and then letting it breach (over and over again).  Also, there were lots of hermit crabs (very small) running around certain parts of the beach, that they were all brave enough to pick up and play with.

One of the highlights of the weekend was a banana boat ride with the Berntson Family.  While mom and Jenna went back for a short nap, Anna, Emily and I joined our friends for a 7 person ride.  All was well until we hit a wave while turning, and we were all quickly tossed into the ocean.  When I came out of the water, I quickly found Anna floating with her friends Sarah and Nate, and I soon found Emily paddling quickly to join me where I was floating.  They were both so brave to be tossed into the ocean and not totally freak out.  We all had to climb back onto the banana boat and finish our ride.  They all remember it quite fondly, now that it is over.

The infamous Banana Boat!!!

During our drive into Malaysia, we crossed a huge bridge, slightly out of place with the rest of the road.  Lots of motorcycles, and driving on the left side (same as Singapore).
