After leaving our whale watching adventure, we headed back to Christchurch (about a 2 hour drive). The ruggedness and beauty of the terrain can be seen in several of the pictures below. It was actually a pretty nice day at this point (not raining), and we enjoyed multiple stops along the road.
Tunnels through the mountains.
Scenery during our drive. The water is absolutely amazingly beautiful.
And yes, Seals. Lots of Fur Seals along the roads. So we stopped to enjoy them. We saw seals many times along our journey through New Zealand, but this was the only day we were walking among them. The rest of the time we saw them from our cruises along the coast lines.
Another stop ... and what maybe be a prehistoric ... okay, maybe just a New Zealand shelter ... but for what, we aren't sure.
Cathedral Cliffs ... or something like that.
