We spent the first 8 days in Sydney staying in a 3 bedroom apartment in Cremorne Point, which is just on the other side of the water from the Opera House. We had a short ferry ride into Circular Quay, which is where the Opera House is. A short 10 minute walk from our apartment and we were at the Cremorne Point wharf, so this was our normal mode of transportation around Sydney for the first week. A wonderful walk from our apartment to the wharf included beautiful views, nature, a light house, playground, etc.

Cremorne Point Lighthouse, which was a fun hike for the older ones amoung us (too steep, dangerous for the little girls). In the fourth picture below, you can see the stairs that we had to climb in order to get down to the lighthouse.
