Beijing - Ming Tombs

From the Great Wall, we visited the Ming Tombs.  These tombs were originally built in 1409.  Supposedly, they still hold many of the treasures from the Ming Dynasty as the tombs have not been opened.

In order to conceal the tombs, a very large wall was built around where the actual tombs would be.  After the emperor was buried, the covered it up with dirt (lots of dirt) and planted trees.  Today, without excavating the entire area, you would have no idea where the individual bodies were placed.
